Big crowds flock to Sentosa

Huge galleries watched the final day's action in the US$6 million Barclays Singapore Open at Sentosa Golf Club on Sunday.

More than 12,000 people thronged The Serapong Course as the US$1 million tournament drew to a dramatic conclusion.

Overall, 28,000 people watched the stars of the game in Asia's richest national Open. The attendance on Thursday was 4,803, Friday saw 3,205 come through the gates and 8,000 people turned up for the rain-affected Saturday play.

"Despite the rain, Singapore golf fans have shown their enthusiasm by coming out in big numbers to watch the action," said Chris Jordan the Senior Vice President, Golf, of tournament promoters World Sport Group.

"The tournament has once again lived up to its billing as "Asia's Major" with a cosmopolitan leaderboard on a dramatic final day."
